We’ve been hearing a lot about businesses implementing temperature checks and mask wearing, but here are some additional recommendations for your office as you head back to work.
Protect your front line workers and prevent the spread of airborne pathogens by adding sneeze guards to any transactional areas, such as reception desks, teller lines, and food service areas.
Minimize social contact by incorporating signage throughout your office. Examples include one-way signs to avoid unnecessary passing in busy corridors along with signs encouraging 6′ of distance anywhere lines may accrue. Another option is to add signage or remove chairs from break room and conference areas to discourage people from congregating.
Help your employees maintain social distancing by adding privacy screens and dividers onto existing desks or panels. Tall storage such as overhead hutches or desktop bookshelves can also be added to create division while adding function. When purchasing new items, select materials which can be easily cleaned and disinfected. Vinyls and polyurethane fabrics are wipe-able and often bleach cleanable. Encourage employees to keep their desks clean and clear by adding organizational storage such as pencil trays and storage bins. This will allow for desks to be thoroughly cleaned every night. At the same time, discourage sharing of items, especially high-touch items such as keyboards, mouse pads, phones and tablets. If anything does need to be shared, such as a tablet, be sure to clean it thoroughly between use.
